Come Sit

I love this frequent blog posting that's happening. Dantzel's being in a blonde box ( i don't even get that actually) and brynne's just living in slc. Nice.

This week, I realized that I have filled a void that has been in my life for the past 2 years. The radiator.
(anyone remember when that room used to look like this? this is when I first looked at the yellow house and met joslin! Back in april-ish 2007?) I couldn't find a picture of my favorite kitchen radiator or the radiator by the front window which may be even more favorite. This is my replacement.

So it doesn't look like the classic radiator..it's really just a metal box and we have dave's old couch pushed up next to it. There are downsides to this radiator. It's not really a radiator. I think it's just a giant vent in the shape of a radiator. Also, the yellow house ones were usually in convenient locations - right next to windows where you could stare at people. They were also used as seats during really important discussions, most about boys. Also used to warm us up even when they were so hot I thought I had burned my butt. (and that's when we began wrapping up in a blanket and sitting on the heater - smart.)

Here's the upside.

It's a really bad pic of the view but off to the left you can see manhattan - empire state building, chrysler building etc etc. All that good stuff before there? Well that's the Bronx. Also nice.

Now Dave and I have nice conversations about making websites, what color to paint the walls, and lots of studying - all while i sit myself on that heater. Love it.

In other news, we have an alien living in our house. Meet our antennae. The first night this thing was in our house I really thought we had another human there, watching TV with us, putting up it's arms. Maybe you had to be there?

Love you girrrls. I invite you to come sit on the heater anytime.

Record Setter.

That's half the reason this post is happening. I'm pretty sure it will set a record for the most posts on the blog in one month, and it definitely sets the record for the most posts I've written in one month. So why not? The other half of the reason is because I'm now at least semi-blonde. The story goes like this. I had highlights, but was ready for more color. I was thinking go blonde by summer, and do an inbetween job right now. Kind of ended up pretty blonde, but I'm not even mad about it one bit.

Me and Allie, the wonderful lady who makes it all happen. Highlight of being blonde so far is having everyone I know on campus having to do a double take to recognize me. Makes me feel a little uncomfortable for 2 seconds, but we do fine once they put two and two together. So there you have it, ladies and gents. I'm officially coming out of my brunette box.

weird or cool? nobody knows.

guess they really love that ring, eh?

Dear Samantha

I apologize. I'm sorry for not including you in my last post. It was a bad moment for me, one where I was caught off guard by the amount of life I had to catch up on this blog. I'd like to say that thus far, the best moment of 2010 was the one when Sam moved into the apartment at Foxwood! Aka...Sam and I have been reunited and it feels so good! The mean girls, hot rod, baby mama, and every other type of movie quotes have been going ever since. It's like we never left. Who would've thought two random roommates could become such great friends? I guess that's the beauty of the yellow house. Once it's brought you together, there's no going back.

So without further adieu, and with a sincere apology, I'd like to pay tribute to my favorite current roomate, Samantha Lynn Hunter, and I'll be using a lot of pictures for fond memories.

She has a most impressive sense of style, as evidenced by my attempts to copy her outfits. Not once, but twice mind you.

Sam's also got a fantastic love for all things HSM, but particularly Sharpay. This is Halloween last year, when she borrowed my dress and wore a rockin wig and head mic. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you sharpay.
Don't worry about me being dressed as a troll. Here's Sharpay just getting caught up on the "scuttle butt" as she would say...

Reason number 1203981-293712-0938-12319283019238 I love Sam. She, along with Dave and Jeff, drove all the way up to Logan this summer on my birthday just to visit! Gems. You can't ask for better friends. Also, they helped me "clean the sink" and Angies...which was fantastic.
And here's a picture from when Sam came back to me from a short stint in Virgina, when I missed her like a fat kid on a diet misses chocolate cake. Welcome back to me Sammy, and can't wait to have lots more great memories!

And....just because Manti requested it via facebook status comment, here's a shout out to my boy Manti. Aka...Dragon. One of the greatest. So glad we found this friend through old ward slash days when he used to play rugby at BYU with my brother Ricky. Here's one of my favorite memories of Manti. This night he, Jarom, and Derek decided to have a sleepover on our trampoline, despite the fact that it was definitely NOT warm enough to do that. Love them.

Again, Sam. Sorry. Love you long time girf!

Dear Everyone

First of all, I apologize for the lack of blogging. I'd like to thank Grace for the blog, facebook, and phone messages reminding me to be better. I can't even remember the last time I updated on this blog, so pretty much I'm just going to turn this into a facebook album...because let's face it everyone wants to see pictures more than they want to read stories. Sooooooo here are the highlights from last semester, the break, and what's going on in 2010 so far. Also, if there is a new facebook album in the future with very similar or all of the same pictures, don't be mad for the repeat. Since everyone, but specifically Brynne and Megan, have left me in Provo all by myself....there has been a serious decline in the documentation of my life.

First, I'd like you to meet these lovelies. These people take up most of the time in my life, when I'm not at the hospital or playing lacrosse. From the back left it goes Aubrey, me, Jimmy, Dan, Olivia. This is at the beginning of our new friendship, when it wasn't too cold to all squish into my car and drive around with the top down...but don't tell my mom that I substituted Aubrey and Jimmy for a seatbelt. Anyway, most of these stories will probably include them, so I figured you should probably have faces for names.
Pictured next is something you may recognize from our cabin trips. We took a weekend off and headed up to Midway. This is Aubrey and I looking like hobos on the see-saw at the cow farm which we all love so much! Sad to be doing these things without my girfs, but glad that the love and tradition can be carried on even with new friends.

This picture is from the First Presidency Christmas Devotional. Jessie, Olivia, Me, and Aubrey had a delightful time at the conference center and only froze a little bit on our way to and from the car.

One of the highlights of last semester: the day we stole a duck from the duck pond! Jimmy, Olivia, and I were bored one afternoon, and decided a good way to fix that problem was to go abduct a duck from the pond south of campus to have as a pet for a few hours. We baited that duck towards the car with bread, when Olivia picked it up and put it in a garbage can. We kept it in our shower and named him pato. Thennnn the management company knocked on our door and told us to get rid of the duck. About 45 minutes later, we had a visit from the Provo police asking about the duck, which, luckily, we had already returned so they couldn't really get mad at us. All in all, a successful afternoon if you ask me. Anyone else thinking of the time when I brought a dog home for a day in 5th grade? Hope my mom reads this story just for that connection. Here's a picture of pato in our tub.
This next picture is from another weekend at the cabin, which was a bit more out of control than the first, but also a lot of fun. We had a bunch of people up there, just after there was a big snow storm. We spent the night playing capture the flag in the snow, some people went to the hot pots. But I'd say the highlight of the night was riding the surrey bike around Midway, serenading the residents with Christmas Carols from the luxury of that beauty. In this picture is Jake, Kim, Jessie, myself, and Dave. If I'm not with the others mentioned, I'm with these gems.
This picture is from the night that Brynne and I decided to go on a drive...and oddly ended up in front of the now blue house. This is us being creeps right outside. I'd like to mention the night I saw someone dancing in the window and threw a snowball at them and ran away. Brynne was on a date with a boy later that week...turns out it was him I threw the snowball at...which they established while she was telling him the story on her date. Sorry B.

The next few pictures are coming from my family vacation to Washington DC and Ocean City, Maryland over the break. We went back to visit Ricky and his family there, and it was a super fun trip despite the fact that it was freezing!

Jumping picture on the beach....

This is me teaching Emerson to wait for the waves to come in and then run away when they get close. Just look at his face!

Swimming in the pool of the clubhouse where we stayed in Maryland. First is Emerson and me, second is most of the fam.

Outside of the Lincoln monument, in front of the Washington monument.

And lastly, just because I think Finlay is so cute.

He and Emerson have learned great words like despicable and disgusting from Thomas and Friends. And I love it when they say them!

Of honorable mention:
1. Grace's wedding...which Brynne has already posted about, so I'll go ahead and leave that out. But that doesn't mean I'm any less thrilled for Grace and Dave or love you any less. You guys are fantastic and I'm so happy for you!
2. Las Vegas Bowl. I went down with Dan, Doug, and a friend of Doug's. But it turns out all the pictures are on Dan's camera, and I haven't gotten them yet....so you'll just have to believe me when I tell you it was both freezing and fun.
3. Black Friday and Post Christmas shopping. I have a problem. I love to shop. At least I can justify it by saying I only buy things that are reasonably priced or a good deal. I blame Melissa, because before I lived with her, I didn't even care to shop or take naps, and now look at me.
4. Snow caving. Last weekend, Jessie and I were invited by Robert Gilbert to go snow caving! It was so so cold! We burrowed caves into the snow and tried to sleep there. But it turns out it's a good idea to have really good sleeping bags if you want to do that. After about an hour of sleep, Jessie and I called it quits and slept at her parents house until noon the next day. Fantastic weekend.

I'm sick of waiting for this blogger to upload my pictures, and I think that pretty well sums up my life right about now. I'm just waiting to get this semester going. I meet with my preceptor tomorrow, at which point I can start chipping away at my 210 hospital hours until I graduate! Hooray! I'm going to be pretty busy between that, lacrosse, and working as a TA for the psychiatric nursing class. I'd like to tell you now that I'll be better at blogging this semester, because playing catch up is dumb. That's all.
